Comprehensive Hearing Evaluation
Personalized Hearing Health Assessment
Our exclusive Personalized Hearing Health Assessment (PHHA) puts you in control of deciding the best solution for your individual hearing needs. By completing this simple assessment, you provide your Beltone hearing care professional with important information needed to make the right recommendations for your lifestyle.
Comprehensive Hearing Evaluation
Your Beltone hearing care professional will review the results of your PHHA assessment with you and will give you a hearing screening to find out whether or not you have a hearing loss. He or she will then consult with you on next steps for your hearing care needs and comprehensive hearing evaluation.
Video Ear Scan
Using a machine called a video otoscope, a Beltone Hearing Instrument Specialist inspects the inside of your ear canal. The Hearing Instrument Specialist can see if there is an excessive buildup of earwax or some other sort of blockage that could be causing a problem with your hearing. Sometimes correcting the hearing problem can be as simple as removing the wax.
Comprehensive Audiometric Hearing Test
A Beltone Hearing Instrument Specialist will conduct a computerized audiometric test of you hearing. The hearing test measures your hearing at different sound levels and your understanding of speech in different listening environments. In other words, the test will tell you exactly what sounds you are hearing and what sounds you are missing. The Beltone Hearing Care Practitioner will guide you through the steps of a thorough hearing evaluation. These include:
- Speech Understanding Assessment:
- This test will determine how well you can understand spoken words in both quiet and noisy environments.
- Pure Tone Test:
- This test precisely measures hearing ability across the full spectrum of sound. If your hearing is within normal range, the hearing test is complete.
- Bone Conduction Test:
- If your hearing isn’t normal, this test determines whether hearing difficulty is the result of an inner or middle ear function problem.
- Ear Anatomy:
- We’ll explain in detail how your ear works so you fully understand your test results.
